UPDATE
The winner of the Green Jacket is the cleanup team from Clear Lake Bank & Trust. They cleaned up the corner of Highway 18/Interstate 35. They had 18 volunteers who picked up 15 bags and two dumpsters of trash. Congrats!
Deb and Dave Betz received the honorable mention. They collected 15 bags of trash while cleaning the area from Clear Lake State Park to Tanglefoot. This is 4th year they have cleaned that area. Thanks Deb and Dave!
Augusta isn’t the only place where you can win a coveted green jacket in April.
Help clean up your community and you may be the one to win the sought-after attire and a traveling trophy. You don’t even have to practice. Just register your team by calling Trish at the Chamber at 357-2159. The winner will be based on the following factors: cleaning your own business/neighborhood; # of bags of trash; # of years helping with the community cleanup; difficulty of cleanup site. This data will be input into a complex algorithm, which is shrouded in the tradition and mystery of the Masters. Bottom line: go for it!
Anyone can enter. While the main cleanup is 8-11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, clean up can be done anytime the week of April 17-April 24. Bags are available ahead of time at the Chamber and at the Lakeview Room on April 24.
Come rub elbows with other contenders at the Green Expo from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at the Surf. Fire up your team to “clean up” and then celebrate with everyone at the festival in City Park from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with free food, family games and the announcement of the winner.
