Right here in our own backyard, we have lots of natural treasures.
So have fun discovering and enjoying these treasures or learning about the human-made project done to protect the natural one.
Here’s how it works: Use the Clear Lake and Ventura Green Guide Eco Map as your treasure map. It is located here or at the Chamber of Commerce office.
The committee has selected 7 sites of the 21 listed here for the treasure hunt. These are all within bicycle riding distance of each other. This year’s sites include: the aquarium display at the IDNR office; Central Gardens; Clear Lake Area Outdoor Classroom near Clear Creek Elementary School; hand-painted murals at the Clear Lake Public Library; a storm water filter box near the Lady of the Lake dock (you won’t actually see the filter box – it’s underground helping the lake); rain garden near the Clear Lake Yacht Club and the rain garden south of the Clear Lake Arts Center. At each of these sites, you will see a rock with a letter on it. It will be near a sign or someplace in clear view. Jot that letter down. Be sure to leave the rock at the site for the next adventurer!
When you’re done finding all 7 letters, it is word unscramble time. It will have something to do with earth days. If you think you’ve got the winning word either e-mail it to

along with your phone number and contact information or deliver your winning word in person at the Chamber this week or the Lakeview Room in City Park from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Anyone who submits the successful answer is eligible to win a prize!
